"The Third Man" by Graham Greene

Summary:

Holly Martin, who was an American writer, had been invited to visit Vienna after World War II by his old friend Harry Lime in Vienna, but when Holly arrived, he knew that his old friend had been killed by a truck. Holly went to the funeral. There, he saw a woman who looked worried. During the funeral, the investigator told Holly that Harry had been involved in illegal acts, but he didn't believe him. Holly agreed to give a lecture in Vienna to stay longer in order to know what happened to Harry. Then, Holly began his search to find out the truth. Holly met Popescu and Kurtz, who said that Harry had asked them to take care of Holly and Anna before his death. Holly was stunned because the investigator told him that Harry had died suddenly! Also, Kurtz told him that the woman that had worried in the cemetery was Harry's girlfriend, Ana Schmidt. Holly met Anna Schmidt and also met Harry's doctor, Winkle, who approved his death. The doctor said that the truck driver was Harry's personal driver. However, the porter told them that there was a third man who carried the body besides Popescu and Kurtz and he would like to tell them something else later at night. When Holly and Anna came to see him as he asked him at night, they found that the porter had been murdered mysteriously. Therefore, Holly decided in the lecture he delivered in Vienna that his next book will be titled The Third Man. Then, Holly decided to leave Vienna because the investigator told him about Harry's crimes that caused the death of many innocent people.

Antoni Van Leeuwenhoek consider one of the greatest minds of science . First, his life with microscopes.  Using microscopes he made himself. Second, curious personality influenced on his scintific life. His curiosity led him to examine moldy bread, lake water and even the plaque buildup on his teeth! Not only that but, the most important discovery in his  life, he was the first person could see red blood cells and bacteria.

Reaction:

This book talks about scientist in the past so, I have remembered that there are a lot of Muslim scientists who are considered the basis for the beginning of a lot of science now.For example, Ibn al-Nafis, who discovered the circulation.Ibn al-Haytham, who discovered the theory of reflection optics.
It's a useful book because easy to understand and you can imagine this scientist's life. The auther used simple and known words to say every thinge about Antoni Van Leeuwenhoek's life.

My Recommendation about "Danger on the Mountains" by Pat Balms

I have read many books this semester, but my favorite choice is "Danger on the Mountains" by Pat Balms. This book is very interesting and has many positive lessons, so I recommend this book for my classmates. The first positive lesson is that how to teach ourselves the challenge and determination.  A girl who this book tells her story made a lot of effort even learned climbing High Mountain professionally. For example, she needed to continue learning climb mountings, so she traveled during her holiday to a place far away from her hometown. Second positive lesson is how to maintain the survival of kind of animals and birds in our environment.  When this girl was able to climb high mountains, she looked out over the trees for the environment and she saw some fishermen putting traps to catch animals, so she reported about them when she got out of the top of mountain. Therefore, they had been under arrest. The third positive lesson is what the importance of our relatives is. This girl went to her uncle's city in order to help her there.  She was received by her uncle and he welcomed by her in his city. At every moment in my life, my relatives have had an important role. For example, my aunt was constantly encouraging me to study, so I always keen to ask about her and visit her as well. Therefore, I recommend this book because it is useful to learn the challenge of self, the preservation of our environment and to learn the importance of relatives in our lives.

Your Former Friend Marthew by LouAnn Gaeddert illustrated by Mary Beth Schwark

Summary:

Gail and Matthew were best friends. They spent every day after school togather and shared their biggest secrets. They liked doing the same things. They even had the same thoughts at the same time. Then Matthew went away for the summer. And when he returned, he acted very strange. He stopped walking to school with Gail and started playing basketball with the boys. He got a new friend named Jay. He even forgot about the science fair projecthe and Gail had promised to do together.

Reaction:

I have read 45 pages of this book. There are a lot of memories of the school. Everyone has been both a private group of friends we play together, share  our goals and ideas, but when you grow up, all of us changed his goals and differed from the others.
I would recommend this book for anyone who wants to remember the memories of the school.A lot of beautiful stories in this book such as how to play, favorite kinds of toys at school and how to share them with childhood friends at school.

I have read the 58 pages of this book so far. Thanksgiving holiday is a very important occasion in America, so Ms. Debbe began training this team ( Sugar plum Ballirnas ) how to dance well because there is dance recital on that day.  After the end of the training, Terra, Jassicaa and Jerzzy returned to their house. They've  found their parent who are always busy working. They had dinner with them. After that their parent told them that their brother Mansen would go with them to school because they are very busy.In the morning, They went to school with Manson. Ms. Debbe, who teaches them dancing, divided the team into two groups. He took one and Mr. Lester took the other. Mr Lester had trouble during his training. Apatha, Terrell and terraca danced -rainbow-.Mason looks at Apatha who is his girlfriend and he like her dance, but, in general, the second group danced nicely except Jassica!
She has tried, but every time, she is  stumble.

Reaction:

I want to mention two important things I've  remembered. Poor self-confidence always causes frustration.I remembered when I was a student in the first academic year,  I foundered because of fear and lack of confidencem so I completely changed my field of study to Mathmatics. The other thing, training makes success. My major is mathematics.I have encountered many difficulties when I was a student, but I succeeded because I was  practicing many difficult exercises.I was studying more than 11 hours continuously.

"Sugar Plum Ballerinas"

Summary:

In the beginning, I have read the 31 pages of this book. It tells about a girl, named Granny, and very tidy. For this, there are a lot of rules and regulation in her life, but her brother Mason does not like any rules in his life. Granny explained that the most important experience in her life is when she met famous ballerina, Camellia Friedman, the first black dancer in New York and she is a professional dancer there. Granny has two friends Jessica and her sister JoAan. Jessica like writing poems and poetry and Joan loves sports. However, they are good dancer in ballet and they learn easily. She is frustrating because she likes dancing, but she is not as good as her friends. Jessica and JoAan rang the doorbell. They want to go to the nearby park to play basketball, but Granny did not go with them because she was frustrating. She looked at them from the window and wondered why they are good at dancing. She believes that this is due to their bodies.
I will continue my reading, so I will tell you a rest of the interesting details about Granny's story.

Reaction:

First, I have returned look back at the past and I remember some moments of fun and play with my brothers inside our house and with my friends outside my home as well.

Second, in the story, there are a lot of useful lessons. For example, we must respect the property of others, maintain, you must learn the system because it is a necessity.

Finally, I advise all of my colleagues to read this book because it is fun, exciting and develop skills to speak quickly because their sentences are written simply and they are used daily.

Danger On The Mountain

Summary:

I enjoyed my time reading a story entitled "Danger on the Mountains" by Pat Balms .The book tells the story of a young girl named Kathy. She was impressed by climbing mountains. Therefore, she went to her uncle Dan who is in another city and works as a ranger in the National Park. There, she learned mountaineering arts which are considered difficult and require a lot of practice. Also, she learned how to preserve wild animals from poachers. She tried to trace them, but she passed by many problems such as the downfall of the boat in the river. Finally, Kathy could identify their place. And, thus, she helped to put under the arrest and saved the wilderness.

Response:

At first, I was confused because I did not know why the author moved from climbing as a hobby to preserve wild animals as a moral duty, but when I read the book again, I understood the content of this book clearly.
I have decided to change this book at first glance because it contains a lot of difficult and complex sentences, but I could guess many of them correctly. Thus, I continued to read it until the end.
I think it's a book appropriate for children over the age of ten because it has many lessons (can plant many of positive qualities)such as challenge, determination, and confidence.
